While most reviews are positive, some customers note that the oil used for frying can sometimes leave a heavier taste if the food isn’t consumed fresh. A few diners pointed out that during peak hours, wait times may extend slightly, which can be a drawback for those in a hurry. A minor complaint some patrons have is the limited vegetarian options outside of the vegetarian burger, which may not satisfy all diners. Additionally, while the atmosphere is friendly, it’s not the place for fine dining ambiance, which is something that some may desire for a sit-down meal experience.
Did have lunch recently. Ordered larger fish and chip. Fish - really big one and I cannot have any chip after fish as I am full. Crispy cover and fish inside give tender and fresh taste. Oily but it is fish and chip. 😁. I tried many fish and chips before . It is my most favourite one now as fish’s taste does not go away. Will just have regular one next time.
I ordered a small chips and medium fish from here, very friendly service, there were much bigger portion sizes available. But i was very satisfied with how much I got as you can probably tell from the picture, the fish is hanging from the plate. Everything was delicious, and the price was good too. Would highly recommend
Sat in at tea time. Had haddock special and rock and chips. Delicious. Hot, fresh, tasty, fast and a good price.
Usually order and take away but Tuesday evening i decided to go and sit in the restaurant it was lovely and clean. Fish and chips were beautifully cooked to order. Could not believe the size of the fish all this for £9.10. Yum
Good portions good atmosphere really nice fish and chips vegetarian burger very nice
Was listed as one of the best fish and chip places in Lowestoft and they are not wrong. Went for the standard size and glad we did as don't think would have managed the large. The fish was excellent, tightly battered so there was no parts of the the batter that was just air, and it was cooked to perfection. Good portion of chips accompanies it. Dolphin isn't on the front or on the main street but not far away so if you are looking for a superb dish seek them out, you will not be disappointed.
Delicious food, the large haddock was really big, tasty and perfectly cooked with crispy golden batter. Great value, clean with separate seating area. Just a short walk from the sea front, well worth it. We'd definitely recommend it.
Expect to spend between £1 and £10 for a meal, making it budget-friendly for all.
